MONTREALDec. 3, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Aéro Montréal, Québec's aerospace cluster, last night awarded MACH performance labels to suppliers in the first cohort following the completion of their first cycle in the Initiative. The ceremony took place at the opening cocktail of the Aerospace Innovation Forum 2013 in the presence of Jean-Luc Trahan, President of the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail, and Sharon Trainor, Director, Supply Chain, at Bombardier Aerospace.

"The MACH Initiative has already demonstrated that it is responding effectively to the need to improve the competitiveness of suppliers," says Suzanne Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal. "The tools and services it makes available as well as the support provided to suppliers by their sponsor has enabled all the SMEs in the first cohort to improve their performance relative to their first audit. Many of them have progressed to a higher level of maturity as reflected by their new performance labels."

Companies in the first cohort have already begun their second cycle with a new customized development and improvement program to enhance their proficiency in the 15 business processes of the MACH Framework of Excellence. This is achieved with the support of their respective mentors.

"Since the early days of the MACH Initiative, major Québec OEMs have seen a positive impact on the efficiency of their supply chain," explains Sylvain Bédard, President of Aéro Montréal's Supply Chain working group and CEO of Sonaca Montréal. "Suppliers involved in the MACH Framework of Excellence have achieved an increasing number of improvements, and simultaneously. This is generating performance gains at all levels of the value chain and ultimately increasing the competitiveness of Québec's industry."
